National Nutrition Council Region X acknowledges BCC Breastfeeding Awareness month

Bukidnon Community Cooperative, a business entity situated at Camp Phillips Barangay Agusan Canyon, Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon celebrated for the first time Breastfeeding Awareness Month last August 25, 2022 through hanging of streamers and conduct of breastfeeding forum.

Nutrition Office staff Alyanna Caballero and Rikkie Lucero monitored the BCC Breastfeeding Room which was established this year. Monitoring was done for the initial screening and compliance in preparation for the Mother-Baby Friendly Workplace initiative accreditation.

A forum was done participated by BCC employees along with the lactating mothers of Barangay Agusan Canyon. Ms. Alyanna Faith R. Caballero, MNAO-OIC discussed the advantages of breastfeeding and provided feedbacks from the said lactation room monitoring. Ms. Rikkie Mae B. Lucero, Nutrition Officer also gave a lecture on the importance of EO 51 “Milk Code”, RA 10028 otherwise known as Expanded Breastfeeding Promotion Act of 2009, she also reiterated that there is a need for the company to create a Breastfeeding Policy highlighting the 40 minutes paid breaks for lactating employees. Mr. Kit Joseph Laurel Cabrera, the Manolo Fortich Human Milk Hub in-charge also delivered an orientation on the operations of the facility.

Mr. Henry S. Dedumo, BOD Chairperson, Mr. Exor D. Dablo, BOD Vice Chairperson, Mr. Eduardo G. Martinez, Ms. Dawn Shella May M. Galorport and Ms. Carolyn P. Ticong, BCC Gender and Development Committee Officers who facilitated the said activity also donated Manual Breast Pump and Breastmilk Bags for Manolo Fortich Human Milk Hub.
